    Agility index evaluation using fuzzy logic in a supply chain management company

    Agility is one of the coming challenges to the supply chain management companies. This paper presents a model to evaluate agility for supply chain management companies and answers the question that how agile a supply chain management company is. It shows a complete set of items in evaluating agility in SCM companies.The model surveys agility in responsiveness with indexes such as strategic planning, sensitivity to change and virtual enterprise; flexibility with indexes such as market flexibility, logistics flexibility,operations system flexibility and supply flexibility;competency with indexes such as integrative mechanism, shared culture, joint decision making, trust and communication; and finally quickness with indexes such as speed of new product introduction,delivery time and speed in operation.The results of S.G.S Co. show that it is in the middle range of agility. It also identifies weak factors within the organization which by improving them, the company can improve its agility index. Evaluation is done in fuzzy logic

    DHLP 1&2: Giraph based distributed label propagation algorithms on heterogeneous drug-related networks

    Background and Objective: Heterogeneous complex networks are large graphs consisting of different types of nodes and edges. The knowledge extraction from these networks is complicated. Moreover, the scale of these networks is steadily increasing. Thus, scalable methods are required. Methods: In this paper, two distributed label propagation algorithms for heterogeneous networks, namely DHLP-1 and DHLP-2 have been introduced. Biological networks are one type of the heterogeneous complex networks. As a case study, we have measured the efficiency of our proposed DHLP-1 and DHLP-2 algorithms on a biological network consisting of drugs, diseases, and targets. The subject we have studied in this network is drug repositioning but our algorithms can be used as general methods for heterogeneous networks other than the biological network. Results: We compared the proposed algorithms with similar non-distributed versions of them namely MINProp and Heter-LP. The experiments revealed the good performance of the algorithms in terms of running time and accuracy.Comment: Source code available for Apache Giraph on Hadoo

    The effect of emerging green market on green entrepreneurship and sustainable development in knowledge-based companies

    Environmental concerns, as well as consumers’ awareness of buying green or environmentally-friendly products, has a positive impact on the emergence of the green market. The emerging green market brings many opportunities in different fields. Today, the issue of green entrepreneurship and sustainable development aim at producing environmentally-friendly products. This is indeed welcomed in the emerging green market. The publicly available research studies that investigate how green entrepreneurship, sustainable development, and emerging green markets are interconnected with each other are limited. More specifically, the impact of the green market on green entrepreneurship and sustainable development has not yet been studied completely. Therefore, a comprehensive research model has been developed in this paper based on the literature. The developed model is then tested using IBM SPSS Statistics for Windows, Version 19. IBM Corp.: Armonk, NY, USA and Smart-PLS Version 2 based on the data collected via a survey from a sample of knowledge-based companies in the Science & Technology Park of Tehran University. The results of the research indicate a positive and significant effect of the emergence of the green market on green entrepreneurship and sustainable development in knowledge-based companies. Moreover, the impact of the green entrepreneurship structure on sustainable development has been studied and the result presents that green entrepreneurship has a positive and significant effect on sustainable development

    Assessing mortality prediction through different representation models based on concepts extracted from clinical notes

    Recent years have seen particular interest in using electronic medical records (EMRs) for secondary purposes to enhance the quality and safety of healthcare delivery. EMRs tend to contain large amounts of valuable clinical notes. Learning of embedding is a method for converting notes into a format that makes them comparable. Transformer-based representation models have recently made a great leap forward. These models are pre-trained on large online datasets to understand natural language texts effectively. The quality of a learning embedding is influenced by how clinical notes are used as input to representation models. A clinical note has several sections with different levels of information value. It is also common for healthcare providers to use different expressions for the same concept. Existing methods use clinical notes directly or with an initial preprocessing as input to representation models. However, to learn a good embedding, we identified the most essential clinical notes section. We then mapped the extracted concepts from selected sections to the standard names in the Unified Medical Language System (UMLS). We used the standard phrases corresponding to the unique concepts as input for clinical models. We performed experiments to measure the usefulness of the learned embedding vectors in the task of hospital mortality prediction on a subset of the publicly available Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care (MIMIC-III) dataset. According to the experiments, clinical transformer-based representation models produced better results with getting input generated by standard names of extracted unique concepts compared to other input formats. The best-performing models were BioBERT, PubMedBERT, and UmlsBERT, respectively

    Effects of auditory processing training on speech perception and brainstem plastisity in adolescents with autism spectrum disorders

    Objective Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorderA major problem of ASD is speech perception impairment in the presence of background noise. Additionally, researchers have reported temporal auditory processing impairment in these patients. In the present study, we evaluated the effects of a temporal-based rehabilitation program on improvement of speech perception in the presence of noise using the speech auditory brainstem response (sABR). Materials & Methods Twenty-eight adolescents with high functional ASD with the mean age of 14.35±1.86 were randomly selected and divided into the ASD group (11 males and three females), and the control group (13 males and one female). All subjects had a normal hearing and intelligence threshold and had no history of neurological disorder. The speech perception test was performed in signal-to-noise ratios of zero and +10. The intervention group received a temporal processing-based auditory rehabilitation program and the control group received a conventional rehabilitation program (P<0.05 was considered significant). Results speech perception in noise after rehabilitation was significantly higher in intervention group (P <0.001) and the latency of all sABR waves in the rehabilitation group was lower than that of the control group. Conclusion Improvement of speech perception in noisy environments and the reduced latency of sABR waves after a temporal processing-based rehabilitation program and one month later, points to the role of auditory temporal processing training program highlight the role of brainstem neural plasticity in speech processin

    Supply chain resilience in the face of uncertainty: how horizontal and vertical collaboration can help?

    Purpose The COVID-19 outbreak highlights that many supply chains are exposed to unforeseen disruptions, that risks are unavoidable, and that the international nature of supply chains can seriously disrupt normal operations. Therefore, the need for Supply Chain Resilience (SCRES) is more imperative than ever. Furthermore, collaboration in supply chains may have benefitted the response to the COVID-19 outbreak. The aim of this research is to gain a deeper understanding of how collaboration with both types of horizontal and vertical collaboration in the supply chain affects its resilience. Design/methodology/approach A thematic analysis of the literature is used to investigate the concepts of both vertical and horizontal collaboration and supply chain resilience separately, then integrating identified themes to understand the relationship between them through a thematic map. Findings The thematic analysis indicates that the more firms collaborate in the supply chain, the more resilient they will be. Furthermore, both horizontal and vertical collaboration between supply chain partners will enhance resilience. This relationship is positively moderated by governance in the partnership and negatively moderated by competition in the partnership. Originality/value This is one of the first papers to provide in-depth insights into how collaboration, with both types of horizontal and vertical collaboration, affects supply chain resilience. Neither of previous articles provide an understanding of how both types of collaboration enables supply chain resilience
